energy, that works

At Solander, we are experts in sustainable energy systems. We align them with the needs of the people who use them.

''Renewable energies are not an ideology but economic common sense.''

Energy that works

Energy meets people

Energy systems are becoming increasingly complex. When they interact with people, this complexity increases even further. That's where it gets interesting for us!

Development

We develop energy management systems by people for people. We don't reinvent the wheel, but rather utilize building blocks and methods that have proven successful in the field. We develop any missing pieces of the puzzle ourselves, tailored to specific needs, and assemble them into a functioning whole.

Dimensioning

Simply consuming energy is a thing of the past. Anyone who needs energy, whether for private, commercial, or industrial purposes, should consider how they can optimize generation and procurement. We will find the optimal mix of renewable energy generation, procurement, and especially storage, tailored to your current and future needs.

Consulting

Do you have your own ideas for a product or process in the field of energy storage? Do you want to know how to move forward from your current energy technology status quo in the most economically and ecologically sound way possible? Then talk to us and benefit from our many years of industry and research experience! We will advise you as equals and plan the next steps with you.

"Even with storage, renewable energies are currently the most cost-effective way to generate electricity. And only they offer geopolitical security of supply as a domestic energy source."

Hans-Josef Fell, 2026

Who is behind it?

„"I am Daniel Wolf, founder and CEO of Solander.".

Energy is my passion. Many years in research and development of energy systems have taught me to understand what works in which context and what doesn't. The key to success often lies in the interplay between hardware and software. At Solander, we pay particular attention to this interface and develop energy management and system solutions that are optimally tailored to the needs of people and businesses, operating sustainably and economically.“

''We do not have an energy storage problem,
We are rather spoiled for choice between all the flexibility and storage options.''

Michael Sterner and Ingo Stadler in „Energy Storage – Demand, Technologies, Integration

Frequently Asked Questions

Modern energy management understands your system with its technical capabilities and limitations, the market with its revenue opportunities, and you with your energy-related needs and individual user behavior. Only when these three elements are in place can energy management truly function and reach its full potential. At Solander, we are able to map system behavior with all its operationally relevant characteristics in a digital twin. We have a comprehensive overview of regulations and marketing options, and we can use machine learning (AI) to model your user behavior. The most important task of energy management is then to operate the energy storage systems involved as efficiently as possible. When this is achieved, and the required energy services are provided in an economically and ecologically optimal manner with complete transparency for users, energy management fulfills its purpose to the fullest. And that is our goal!

Of course, it all depends on the energy services you require on-site and the availability of locally usable renewable energy sources. If electricity is needed and photovoltaics can be used on-site, battery storage is a good choice. Here, it's important to ensure that the battery technology, and therefore its aging behavior, dynamic and thermal load capacity, and above all, its capacity, are suitable for the application.
If the required energy services become diversified, thermal storage systems are often very attractive. They score points with significantly lower investment costs and offer superior aging behavior compared to battery storage. It is particularly important here that energy and exergetic losses (stratification) are taken into account in the design and operation.
For very long storage durations in seasonal applications, material storage solutions such as hydrogen are an interesting option. They offer extremely low standby losses and high energy density.

Residential and commercial sectors hardly differ in terms of the energy services they require – namely electricity, heating, cooling, and mobility. However, they differ significantly in their respective annual demand and, above all, its temporal profile. Both of these factors are essential for determining the appropriate storage capacity.
Furthermore, the possibilities for utilizing local renewable energy sources, as well as access to the energy market, differ. While in the residential sector it is limited to photovoltaics and the associated feed-in of surplus energy according to the respective EEG regulations, significantly more options are available in the commercial and industrial sectors, and thus considerably more is possible from an energy management perspective.

In general, flexibility is becoming increasingly important and therefore more economically valuable in modern energy systems. But what exactly is flexibility?
Flexibility refers to the ability to respond effectively to fluctuations in supply, i.e., renewable energy generation, and demand. If I am able to do this, for example, with the help of suitable energy storage or demand-side management measures, I have a good starting position to utilize various revenue opportunities. Maximizing self-consumption of locally generated renewable energy and peak shaving are often two revenue opportunities that achieve high specific returns and are generally well-suited for combination. Which other revenue opportunities are possible varies considerably from case to case and requires comprehensive energy system simulations, which we would be happy to assist you with.
